Injury update
Carolina Hurricanes President and General Manager Jim Rutherford announced today that defenseman Joni Pitkanen may not return to the lineup before the first week in March – which effectively end any and all trade rumors surrounding him.
Pitkanen initially suffered a concussion on December 6th in a game against the Calgary Flames. Almost a month later it was reported that Pitkanen would undergo knee surgery and would be out for an additional four weeks. With this latest announcement I’m begging to feel that we won’t see Pitkanen for the rest of this season.
Add another one to the list?
The list of possible suitors for Hurricanes defenseman Tim Gleason seems to grow with each passing day. Gleason has already been linked to the Philadelphia Flyers, Boston Bruins, and Chicago Blackhawks over the past few weeks and ESPN’s Alvin Chang speculates that division rival Washington Capitals may be interested in adding Gleason to their roster if Mike Green doesn’t make a speedy recovery.
