Dallas Cowboys: 5 Smart Ways to Use All That Salary Cap Room

The Dallas Cowboys currently have $12.6 million in salary cap room to spend during the 2012 NFL offseason. There’s no danger in the Cowboys not using the required 93% of the team’s salary cap, but there are obviously both good and bad ways of using this money.

The Cowboys need help at several different areas and the only way this team can contend any time soon is by improving personnel at all of these areas. The current total of $12.6 million can greatly increase if the Cowboys restructure the current contracts of high-paid players like Orlando Scandrick and Doug Free. Dallas did this with Tony Romo, DeMarcus Ware and Jay Ratliff in 2011 and was able to sign Abram Elam, Gerald Sensabuagh and Doug Free with the extra salary cap space.
