The 2011 Trojans possessed a unit of linebackers that stood out among the rest. Two of three starters received freshman All-American honors, which is a credit to Joe Barry and his ability to accelerate progress and transform inexperienced youth to veteran performers. Looking forward, we were projecting continuity and the same results for incoming Scott Starr and Jabari Ruffin.  But as it always does, it takes just a single announcement to douse us with reality, and remind us of how quickly things can change.

In a meeting with linebackers on Friday, Barry informed his players that he is leaving USC to fill the same position with the San Diego Chargers. And with the announcement, the Trojan staff loses and asset and will now focus on replacement.
