In the end, Jerry Sandusky did not take the stand in his own defense with his life and reputation on the line. With their client facing 51 counts of sexual molestation of children, the 68-year-old’s attorneys rested their case without putting the defendant on the stand.
Judge John Cleland said closing arguments will begin Thursday at 9 a.m. and the jury could get the case by midday. That means this long, sad saga could come to some kind of conclusion by Thursday afternoon depending on how long the jury deliberates.
The defense elected not to have Sandusky take the stand, instead relying on the strategy of creating reasonable doubt. His lawyers painted Sandusky as the target of an overaggressive police investigation that coached witnesses and employed unethical tactics to frame him.
