The Stack is here on this Monday and there wasn’t a ton going on over the weekend unless you’re a fan of the X-Games. Yes X-Games XII I believe went on in Los Angeles over the weekend. There were a few records set and plenty of action. Here’s a link to all of the stories and results. And that’s it for our X-Games recap. As for the rest of the weekend’s big sports stories, let’s take a look at them and see what made “the stack” for today, Monday, July 2:
1. Spain wins Euro Cup
It was almost over before it even began. Spain scored two goals by halftime, one in the 14th minute and one in the 41st minute to take a 2-0 lead at half. They ended up trouncing Italy 4-0. In doing so, Spain won their third straight international tournament (two Euro Cups and a World Cup). They are the first European team ever to achieve this feat. Spain has always been good at soccer. But this good? Even Spanish fans have to be in awe at just how good the program has been. Give credit to Italy. They had a very good run to the finals, but they were no match for Spain’s athleticism and overall depth. Will Spain win it all in the Olympics? At this point, it wouldn’t be surprising, but man would it be extraordinary.
2. Tiger wins at Congressional
Mother nature could not stop Tiger Woods over the weekend at the AT&T National in Bethesda, Maryland…
