Another Wednesday, another fairly quiet day across the world of sports. The Stack was able to find a few things to talk about so let’s get right to it and see what made “the stack” for today, Thursday, August 23:
NFL quick hits
The New Orleans Saints have named Aaron Kromer their interim head coach while assistant head coach Joe Vitt is suspended for the first six games for his role in the bounty scandal. Saints players did have an input in who the coach was and they said that Kromer is someone well-respected in the locker room and who they believe will be able to lead them to start the season. Kromer is the team’s offensive line coach. It has been a tumultioius offseason for the Saints. How will they look to start the regular season? They’ll take all of this negativity and use that as motivation, but it is still going to be difficult. When you lose leaders like Sean Payton and Vitt, it is tough to replace. Naming Kromer interim head coach helps with that stability.
