Today in 1988: Barry Sanders wins the Heisman

I remember exactly where I was, watching through the glass of my iron lung shortly after being diagnosed with polio, wiping away the condensation to see Barry Sanders grin through a satellite feed from Toyko as he won the 1988 Heisman Trophy.

Rodney Peete? Thanks for playing.
Troy Aikman? Don’t fret. You’ll get your future concussions and Super Bowl rings.
