Dirk Nowitzki frustrated by the Dallas Mavericks slump

The Dallas Mavericks have been in shambles of late and even the return of their ace forward Dirk Nowitzki has failed to inspire them. On Sunday, the 2011 NBA Champions lost their 8th game in last nine when they surrendered to the minnows New Orleans Hornets in overtime and that too at home.

Dallas’s demise, which has put them on the verge of losing out on a playoff spot for the first time in 12 years, has primarily been due to Mark Cuban, who let go of Tyson Chandler and a host of other stars from the championship winning side, with a hope to bring newer, more stronger, faces around the German sharp shooter, who has entered the twilight of his career. That never happened though. The Chris Paul opportunity came and passed, Dwight Howard’s trade never materialized and after Deron Williams opted to stick with the Brooklyn Nets this summer, all Mavericks were left with were was Nowitzki, and a host of unproven players, some of them well past their prime.
