D-backs Passing Time on Twitterverse
The Arizona Diamondbacks will back on the field in full force by the end of February. For now, they are passing time, some by letting us in on their lives on Twitter. From time to time I like to check in on what D-backs personnel are doing by checking them out on [...]
VenomStrikes.com: Daniel Hudson Throws First 2012 Bullpen, Giving Away Gear on Twitter
Although the coveted pitcher/catcher official reporting day for the Arizona Diamondbacks isn’t until February 19th, several pitchers from the big league staff and 40-man roster are throwing their first bullpens of the new year this week.
2011 16-game winner Daniel Hudson, [...]
Dbacks See Another NL Rival Big Bat Leave for the AL
First it was Albert Pujols. Now, it’s Prince Fielder. For the Arizona Diamondbacks part, they can now say goodbye to both, as both have spurned the National League for the American League. With Pujols leaving for the Los Angeles Angels earlier in the off-season, now we have yesterday when Fielder left for the Detroit Tigers. [...]
Arizona Diamondbacks Get Some National Television Exposure in 2012
Amazing what a NL West title will do for you. The Arizona Diamondbacks, playing in virtual obscurity until the 2011 postseason, will get the chance to once again show off their regular season play in front of a national audience or at the very least, in front of a regional audience [...]
Dbacks Game Five a Microcosm of Entire Season
Many weaknesses, many strengths came into play in the Milwaukee Brewers 3-2 10th inning victory over the Arizona Diamondbacks on Friday, a victory that sends the Brewers to the National League Championship Series against the St. Louis Cardinals. Before I go any further though, congrats to the Milwaukee Brewers. It ended up being a good series which included a great game five.
The Dbacks had a little of everything [...]
VenomStrikes.com: Diamondbacks Are National League West Champions!!
The day finally came! No more magic numbers, no more scoreboard watching. The Arizona Diamondbacks have won the National League West by defeating the San Francisco Giants on Friday night at Chase Field. It wasn’t easy, but as I’ve said all season, it’s not worth it if it is easy. Nice to see the Dbacks have to work to get the first prize in the NL West. [...]
VenomStrikes.com: Remebering 9-11 and How it Affected Baseball
September 11, 2001. I remember the day well. I was getting ready for work when I got a call from my sister, who worked for KLAS TV in Las Vegas at the time. She called to ask if I knew of anyone in the World Trade Center. I thought it to be an odd question at 6:30am on a Tuesday morning, especially since she worked the 10pm newscast. Why was she calling me? [...]
Dbacks Magic Number 12 After 4-1 Win Over Padres
Ian Kennedy went out tonight and did what he’s been doing all year, win. He won his 19th game of the season to 19-4 overall as the Arizona Diamondbacks defeated the San Diego Padres 4-1 on Thursday night. The Dbacks magic number to win the National League West is now 12. The San Francisco Giants were idle. The Dbacks lead was extended to 7.5 games over the Giants and they are now only 1.5 [...]
Clearly Offensive Production is Nice, but Not Everything For Dbacks
When I heard last night that the Florida Marlins has optioned one of their most popular players, Logan Morrison, to AAA, I wondered why? I had to go look at his numbers. He was hitting .249, with 17 HR and 60 RBI. Apparently hitting only .230 over the past month though did him in. So that got me to wondering? Just how high are the expectations in Florida with the team sitting in last place in the National League East? [...]
Dbacks Attendance Disappointing but Not Reason For Losses
We all know Arizona Diamondbacks fans sit on their hands a lot during games, part of that is there not much to cheer about at times. However, recently, it has been highlighted that the bodies aren’t even there, quiet or not. It is disappointing to see the Dbacks with an average attendance lower than last year. They are averaging 24,167 fans so far this season. [...]
