D-Backs Offense Wakes up just in Time to See Starting Pitching Stumble
Hudson allowed 10 base hits and 3 walks. Brian Shaw took the loss allowing an unearned run in the bottom of 8th. That’s the bad news. The good news, however, is that the D-Backs bats finally seemd to wake up. Justin Upton had his best game of the season going 2-4 with 2 runs and [...]
VenomStrikes.com: D-backs Sweep Giants With 2011 Magic
The Arizona Diamondbacks completed a sweep of the San Francisco Giants today, with much of the same magic that took them to a 2011 NL West Division Championship in 2011. The Diamondbacks came from behind to win 42 times last year. It’s not easy to duplicate that from year-to-year, but they were able to do just that [...]
VenomStrikes.com: Mariners Best Kennedy, D-Backs in Spring Game
The spring woes continue for the Diamondbacks. After rallying to a 8-5 win after a rough effort by Trevor Bauer on Saturday, the D-Backs fell in listless fashion to the Seattle Mariners and the “other” catching Montero–Jesus, formerly of the Yankees. The top prospect catcher was dealt to the Yankees this offseason for young starter Michael Pineda [...]
Goldschmidt key to Diamondbacks’ Success in 2012
Towards the end of last season there was no bigger story for the Diamondbacks than the success of first baseman Paul Goldschmidt. Goldschmidt played in only 48 regular season games and 4 postseason games and put up some staggering numbers. He hit .250 during the regular season with 9 doubles, 1 triple and 8 home [...]
VenomStrikes.com: D-Backs’ Justin Upton is an MVP Waiting to Happen
The Arizona Diamondbacks have never fielded a National League MVP. Randy Johnson and Brandon Webb collected Cy Young Awards as members of the Diamondbacks. In fact, the Cy Young is the only individual award any Arizona player has obtained. That could change as early as this season with the emergence of Justin Upton. [...]
D-backs Passing Time on Twitterverse
The Arizona Diamondbacks will back on the field in full force by the end of February. For now, they are passing time, some by letting us in on their lives on Twitter. From time to time I like to check in on what D-backs personnel are doing by checking them out on Twitter. Tonight outfielder [...]
VenomStrikes.com: Daniel Hudson Throws First 2012 Bullpen, Giving Away Gear on Twitter
Although the coveted pitcher/catcher official reporting day for the Arizona Diamondbacks isn’t until February 19th, several pitchers from the big league staff and 40-man roster are throwing their first bullpens of the new year this week.
2011 16-game winner Daniel Hudson, [...]
Dbacks See Another NL Rival Big Bat Leave for the AL
First it was Albert Pujols. Now, it’s Prince Fielder. For the Arizona Diamondbacks part, they can now say goodbye to both, as both have spurned the National League for the American League. With Pujols leaving for the Los Angeles Angels earlier in the off-season, now we have yesterday when Fielder left for the Detroit Tigers. [...]
Arizona Diamondbacks Get Some National Television Exposure in 2012
Amazing what a NL West title will do for you. The Arizona Diamondbacks, playing in virtual obscurity until the 2011 postseason, will get the chance to once again show off their regular season play in front of a national audience or at the very least, in front of a regional audience outside of Arizona. In [...]
Dbacks Game Five a Microcosm of Entire Season
Many weaknesses, many strengths came into play in the Milwaukee Brewers 3-2 10th inning victory over the Arizona Diamondbacks on Friday, a victory that sends the Brewers to the National League Championship Series against the St. Louis Cardinals. Before I go any further though, congrats to the Milwaukee Brewers. It ended up being a good series which included a great game five.
The Dbacks had a little of everything [...]
