UFC 98: After the Dust has settled
Now that the dust from UFC 98 has settled, MikeDead and -C.B- are going to break down the Event. Frank Edgar showed that he has an impressive standing game. Do you think that he’s one big win away from a title shot?
MikeDead: One big win; maybe. But I’m not convinced that a win over Sherk will be enough to get Frank Edgar that big fight just yet. The win over Sherk was certainly impressive, but I’d like to see how he fares in his next fight, and what a win over Sherk will get him in his next bout.
SJ’s NHL Playoff Preview - Conference Final Edition
And then there were two left in the West.
An Original Six matchup featuring an experienced Red Wings team who want to be repeat champs and a young Chicago team that has the hunger to make it to the Stanley Cup Finals.
After an easy first round sweep of Columbus, Detroit was shown that they can be forced into a game seven situation (although they were facing the 06/07 Cup Champions.) Will winning that high pressure game put that fire in their bellies? Will they be more determined to end the Hawks as quickly as they can so that they aren’t put on the brink of elimination for the second time?
Where do we go from here?
Well after a few days to cool down and regain my composure I’ve accepted the fact that we got outplayed by a team who had more (and better) depth, talent, and at times the better goaltender. We got ourselves into penalty trouble, which everyone knew was going to hurt us, and it did. We had some really bad turnovers and some bad bounces (off Edlers skate in game six).
But you know looking back on things this season was actually very good for this team. I mean we missed the playoffs the year before and came back to get our first ever playoff sweep. We were pegged to be one of the bottom dweller teams this year with the loss of Linden, Morrison, Naslund and yet we finished 1st in our Conference.
Two minutes, Too much?
One of the penalties that I along with many others hate is rule 63 (Delaying the Game). More specifically the part that talks about a player recieving a penalty for shooting the puck over the glass.“When any player or goalkeeper, while in his defending zone, shoots *the puck directly (non-deflected) out of the playing surface, except where there is no glass, a penalty shall be assessed for delaying the game.”

Sports Jabber Biography: Sidney Crosby
Sidney Patrick Crosby was born on August 7th, 1987 in Cole Harbour, Nova Scotia. Parents Troy and Tina Crosby of Cole Harbour, and one younger sister make up his family. Troy Crosby played in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League, and was even drafted to the Montreal Canadians in 1984, but never had the opportunity to play at the professional level. Troy moved on and got involved in a Halifax law firm, where he started working as a facilities manager. Tina worked at a grocery store in Cole Harbour.
The Blue Blogger: From the outside looking in
I’m not going to lie and say that I know a lot about baseball, or say even when I watched that I did it regularly. But when I did watch “Americas’ pastime” or whatever they were calling it, the Blue Jays pitching rotation consisted of Roy Halladay, Ted Lilly, Gustavo Chacin, A.J Burnett, and someone else that slips my mind. Even when I watched, knowing the little that I did at the time, when we lost Lilly, I felt that we never replaced him with a solid arm. Halladay, like always, was a tank
Dark horse in the East: Carolina Hurricanes
It has come to my attention that the Carolina Hurricanes have clinched a playoff spot this season, and my first reaction, along with some other I know, was huh? Since changing the name and moving in ‘96 – ‘97, because of stadium issues in Hartford, the team has only managed to the playoffs 4 times. And in the 2005 – 2006 season, won the Stanley Cup.
Earning Respect
When we talk about the Western teams and who can make it to the finals, the same teams appear in our conversations…the San Jose Sharks, Detroit Red Wings, and Calgary Flames. Of course, this year the Chicago Blackhawks have been garnering their fair share of talk, and even the Columbus Blue Jackets are getting some looks.
NHL: What Do You Think of This Idea?
last night they were saying that the NBA was thinking that instead of the 1st place team taking on the 8th, as the playoffs are done currently (2 against 7, 3 against 6, and 4 against 5), the top 4 teams would choose their opponent. And because the NBA was thinking about this, I thought that the NHL should also look into it
