The MVP’s For The Pirates’ Future
The Pirates have all kinds of young talent in every level of their system. They have pretty much no veteran or proven talent in the majors, so it’s making the future a pretty big question mark. No prospect is a sure thing, so it’s always kind of risky to depend on them like the Pirates [...]

Wilson, Sanchez staying put?
The Pirates have decided to offer contract extensions to Jack Wilson and Freddie Sanchez.
This blog gives you three reasons why the Pirates might do this.
1. The front office finally gets it. The Pirates are tied for the MLB lead in double plays turned. Building a solid defensive team, you have to be strong up the middle. Jack and Freddie are both very good with the gloves.
2. The Pirates offered these guys up to trades and were offered very little in return, or not what they expected. Both guys have more value here than with someone else.
Duke gets All Star nod
Zach Duke is headed to St Loius, As a member of the Pirates.
Duke was named to replace the injured Matt Cain.

Keeping up with the Jones’
The Steelers squeaked out a win to bring home the NFL’s top piece of hardware. The Pens battled the Red Wings to get the same from the NHL.
Big Ben and company are always a huge hit in the ‘Burgh. Sidney and Gino are rising superstars.
All is well in “The City of Champions.”
Or is it?
For the Pittsburgh Pirates, it’s not.
The Trade, revisited, 24 hours later
When I first heard the news, I was pissed off. I mean really pissed off.
The Pirates traded away another All Star outfielder. That’s two in the past 12 months. How dare Neil Hunnington do this to us! Hes no different from Cam Bonifay or Dave Littlefield.
Pirates Trade McLouth to Braves
The Pirates have traded Nate McLouth to the Braves for three players.
The Braves have acquired All-Star outfielder Nate McLouth from the Pirates in exchange for three highly regarded Minor League prospects.
A Major League source confirmed that the Pirates will send McLouth to the Braves in exchange for right-handed pitcher Charlie Morton, left-handed pitcher Jeff Locke [...]
The Pirates need an answer…Its Barry!!!!
They should sign Barry Bonds. Heres why: Bonds brings a proven potent bat to the line up. He’ll put asses in the seats. The Pirates would get national attention. People will buy Pirates jerseys, and the players that are playing well will be recognized…see Freddie Sanchez!! The Pirates would make money… More money than they are now. Mr Nutting likes money. He likes attention-he’ll love Barry! Sure, they would take some negativity from it, but the upside outweighs the downside. Mr Nutting, get Barry on the phone, get him on a plan and get him in a Pirates uniform.
Capps botches lead in 9th
Paul Maholm pitched a gem tonight.
Matt Capps blew it.
After Paul went 7 innings and allowing no runs, Jim Tracy..I mean John Russell pulls Maholm. Yates gives up a run in the 8th on a sac fly, but the Bucs protested the call, went to third, where Jack Wilson stepped on the base, the umpire signals the runner is out. Bucs still lead 1-0
Matt Capps comes in and promply gives up a ground rule double…
