Chris Tillman, the Orioles’ top pitching prospect, has now been called up from Triple-A Norfolk to begin his big league career.

He will be facing a weak-hitting offense in Kansas City, so picking up the “W” in his big-league debut shouldn’t be a problem, right?

Not so fast.

In the Baltimore Orioles organization, three names stand out in the minor leagues. Each one has individually aided in placing the tag of “No. 1 farm system in baseball” on the Birds.

This trio consists of lefty Brian Matusz and righties Chris Tillman and Jake Arrieta.

Formerly known as a key bench player for the Baltimore Orioles, super-utility man Oscar Salazar will be heading for the West Coast in the near future.

Recently, the San Diego Padres dealt relief pitcher Cla Meredith to the O’s for Salazar, adding an extra arm to the bullpen for the Birds.
