Left Turn Louie Rants: Why NASCAR Won’t Sell Out At Bristol

NASCAR will be racing at Bristol Motor Speedway this weekend. Official forecasts suggests that neither the Nationwide or Sprint Cup races will likely sell out. I’m here to tell you why.

First off…It’s Bristol! Who the Hell wants to go to Bristol, Tennessee? Who the Hell wants to go ANYWHERE in Tennessee? Now that I mention it…Where the Hell IS Bristol…

Left Turn Louie Rants: Daytona 500 Goes X-Rated (satire)

WOW! Was that an incredible Daytona 500 or what?!

Now, before I get into my rant, allow me to pat myself on the back for being the only person on the planet who predicted that Trevor Bayne would win the race. Yeah…so I was talking about the race with his little brother to his mama’s fridge for the last bottle of RC Cola, but at least I had his name out there. YOU didn’t, now did you?…

The record books were rewritten at the Daytona International Speedway on Sunday. In only his second Spring Cup Series start, rookie Trevor Bayne from Knoxville, Tennessee became the youngest driver in NASCAR history to win the Daytona 500.

DAYTONA 500 FROM MY EYES

DAYTONA 500 FROM MY EYES

The Daytona 500 is the Super Bowl of Nascar. It sets the tone and the expectations for certain drivers for the remainder of the season. In a sense it can make or break drivers.

What does it mean to me? It is a very special race to me because I never truly watched Nascar till 2001 when Dale Earnhardt died. I guess in a sense, I can thank him for getting me to watch it.

TSTOS: 10 Years Gone: Dale Earnhardt

Ten years ago today Dale Earnhardt, Sr. passed away. February 18, 2001.

Every time I think of Dale Earnhardt, I think of my father. My father was a Sr. and so was Earnhardt. They both passed away on 18ths (my dad passed away on December 18, 2003). They both died at the age of 49.

When I was a kid I would watch NASCAR races with my father and my uncle Danny…

NGNG: Dale Earnhardt Jr. Admits That His Father’s Death Has Impacted His Performance

This really doesn’t come as a shock to me because losing a family member right in front of your eyes has to take a toll on you. But let’s be honest; Dale Jr. is an average driver to begin with and he is not the type of driver that can perform at a high level with something like this on his mind. “After that happened I never wanted to see another…

The Spotter’s Stand: The Reason Atlanta Has Just One Date in 2011

I awoke this morning to find most of NASCAR Nation in an uproar over the plans for the 2011 NASCAR Sprint Cup Schedule. No one seemed all that thrilled with the idea of Kentucky getting a race date and Atlanta Motor Speedway losing one of it’s dates. Fans were suggesting all kinds of other ideas of things that NASCAR should have done to keep to dares at Atlanta and give Kentucky it’s date. This post is to explain the real reason…

The Heart Of NASCAR: Goodyear Supports Our Troops Program

We have all seen the tires that Goodyear has been supplying the teams with for the past three weeks, and some of us have gone over to Goodyear’s site to see what all the commotion was about, but this week they let loose something new.

You can now send a video thank you message to someone serving or who has served for our country from your favorite NASCAR driver.
