![]() Batista Brothers Road to the NFL! ![]() Here is a local story that you will only hear on News 12 The Bronx. Our very own Batista Brothers have decided to enter the National Football League Draft later this month. These guys have traveled the world to play football, from playing at Alfred E. Smith High School here in the Bronx to Syracuse then the Arena Football League where they played for the New York Dragons to playing for Bergamo Lions, the top club in the Italian Football League. QB-Luis Batista wearing #5 loves connecting with his younger brother WR-Evan Batista wearing #82 for game winning touchdowns and the pair have reached legendary status here in the Bronx but are ready once again and are hopeful to join a professional team in the NFL. They left Syracuse a year early to care for their family and found themselves playing in the Arena League to better their talents and earn a salary. After their mom was recommended to a facility in Italy they moved out there to remain close to her until her final days and played in the Italian Professional League but they are now preparing for what they hope is a dream come true in playing for a team within the NFL. The guys are both fans of the New York Giants and it would be great to see them playing for their team but we are sure any team for them will do. Good luck guys and look at that beautiful view. ![]()

![]() Tampa Bay Bucs 2012 Preview "This was an active offseason for this franchise and the turn around will be large but there needed to be a change and a fresh start. We welcomed back Michael Bennett, Larry Asante, Jeremy Zuttah, Geno Hayes and Corey Lynch with new contracts. Looking at this team we wanted to add experience and talent so when we signed Shaun O'Hara, Ryan Grant, Aaron Ross, Kelly Jennings, Danny Woodhead, Steve Slaton, Owen Schmitt, Jarrick Stewart, Jeff Backus and Cooper Carlisle, we saw a change of attitude and I can't wait to hit the field with the guys. The draft was a complete success in our eyes and we went defensive heavy because we felt a need to add talent and youth to that side of the ball. These young men are coming in to compete for starting positions. We are excited about drafting Khambrel Goodall, Lakieth Lofton and Jamar Mosley, these young men have the athletic ability to cause havoc and makes drawing up coverage's and blitz packages fun. I finally got my hands on the Batista Brothers, they eluded me in college. I recruited them back then and wasn't too happy when they signed to attend Syracuse but now here we are together finally. The time has come to get down to work, no more talking and with that said goodbye." Head Coach Greg Schiano

Out of curiosity, are you doing this in franchise mode?
And a question for Luis....How do you plan to prepare knowing that you will be at least the second string if not third string QB? |

"I'm preparing as if I was the starter. I'm going in to learn the NFL game, I'll watch plenty of game film, learn the offense and try to get as many reps as possible. I'm grateful to be drafted and even more excited to have my brother drafted by the same team. We are here to first compete for a job because nothing is written in stone then if we are successful in making the roster we are willing to do whatever it takes to win." Luis Batista
