Music Make a Themed Mix Tape

I used to love making mix tapes and later cds for all sorts of reasons, whether it be for girlfriends (or prospective ones) or something to work out to or mow the lawn to etc.

So to recapture that lost fun; make a mix "tape" of 10-15 songs or so about a theme. You can be as liberal as you want (for instance, workout songs, party songs) or more specific (like "songs featuring eric clapton on guitar but that aren't by a band he was a part of", etc.)

There's also rules about making mix tapes, but basically it boils down to how you want the songs to move from one to the next. You don't want the tape to fizzle as you move past the first couple of songs but you also want to make sure you start strong etc.

Any way make a mix tape!

I wonder if as a twist, we don't name our "theme" and instead we try to guess what the theme is?

I like this idea. How do we want to do this? One person posts at a time or just post whenever you get the idea and everyone else multi-quote?

By the way GA, the art of mix-taping is a lost art. I used to make a ton when I first got my car... Then my CD burner on the laptop stopped working... And then my CD player in the car. Thanks for bringing me back to the days of trying to find the perfect songs.

OK probably the reason why I made most of my mix tapes. I'm a sad bastard leave me alone. Should be plainly evident what the theme is.

1.Ben Folds Five - Song For the Dumped

2.Ben Harper - Please Bleed

3.Elliot Smith - Roman Candle

4.Third Eye Blind - How's It Gonna Be

5.Tragically Hip - Boots or Hearts

6.Ryan Adams - Come Pick Me Up

7.Willie Nelson - Always on my mind

8.Lael Alderman - Cigarette
No video but you can listen to the song here

9.Gotye - Some That I Used to Know (yea this song's everywhere, but I dig it)

10.Bob Dylan - Most of the Time
http://videos.sapo.pt/sGHkEzgER3y8yK6aEwlp (couldn't find the version I wanted on Youtube)

11.Pearl Jam - Rear View Mirror

12.Weezer - Only in Dreams

huh. I think its pretty ok. Whiny isn't a new fad, its been around since the dawn of music. I hate the "in my day... men were men, and children got beat by everyone they knew just to let them know who was in charge and women had smaller feet to stand closer to the stove and we only listened to shredding guitars played by men in spandex" rhetoric.

I've never done a "mix tape". Maybe I'll do some research and make my first.
