I had ZZ Top and Poison on my list, but as I started remembering bands, they went by the wayside. Poison is actually one of my favorite bands, I just couldn't justify them as being in the top 10. I also struggled putting The Ramones on my list. Also, I feel like I may have tainted the thread, as I went on a rampage about "solo" acts. GA said we may include solo acts. I didn't revise my list because Elvis and Michael Jackson would obviously be an interchangeable one and two...well, for me anyways. Oops. Forgot something...Fleetwood Mac is British/American, so they didn't qualify for my list.

My list:
1. Elvis Presley 2. The Doors 3. The Beach Boys 4. Bob Dylan 5. Chuck Berry 6. Aerosmith 7. The Ramones 8. Metallica 9. Guns n Roses 10. Nirvana I tried to weigh the effect the act had on music, the popularity and the legacy of the band... Others meriting consideration: Springsteen Pearl Jam RHCP Van Halen Buddy Holly Tom Petty Hendrix The Doobies The Dead a few more too but I'm having trouble remembering them.

I love the Doors and again, were considered on my list, but got bumped once I thought of other groups.
You know my thoughts on Aerosmith being overrated, haha. I think just because they've been around a long time, doesn't mean they're great. That doesn't mean I don't like them because I do like alot of their stuff, just not in what I consider to be the top ten. But, that's the cool thing about lists, there are going to be many different ones, and nothing "definitive".
