That's exactly what I told Relative #2, and she's trying to do that.

Cut it lose. It doesn't matter. People treat you the way you let them. I am trying to teach my kids that even with my own family. My daughter always says..but..but...and spews the injustices and favoritisms and whatnot and I just say let it go. Live a good life. Put a smile on your face, don't play into it and go on. Don't give it all a voice. There are some things people aren't capable of so they react negatively.

I know it's hard and lord knows it took me most of my life to get this way.

Funny story. I had a funeral to go to last month. A good family friend..(my best friend growing up..) her husband died of cancer. So my mom and dad make arrangements with my sister to meet up and my brother...and left me out LOL NOW..I went...with a friend...but I walked in, saw my family and I know my jaw dropped. I thought..wow I didn't get the memo LOL

My favorite Mom story...I almost died in the hospital from pneumonia. The kids were little...they released me but I knew if I didn't eat I would die. So I called my mom and asked her if she would bring me some canned soup. She told..she would..but she already went shopping for the week. A good friend and I will never forget this, brought me lasagna, salad, bread. I remember how heavy it tasted cuz I hadn't eaten in weeks but I made myself a little everyday till I got my strength up. And now I think about my dear friend..not the soup no one could bring me.

Another story...a few years ago my favorite aunt..her husband died of cancer. She flew in from Montana...they had the funeral...and my mom never told me she was here or he died. She did a few weeks later and when I randomly called her and I said why didn't you tell me and she said....well you said you'd call last week and you didn't.

I walked around work all day saying mostly out loud..am I that bad of a person? I could tell you stories now until next week...but I smile. I visit when I can, make sure I call a few times a week and give them my love. I take the high road cuz it's the right thing to do. I can't right anything or change anything and they will say what they will say about me. But the people that know me the most love me anyway.

Now it's a little harder cuz they treat my kids that way too...much rather it was just me. But they know. They don't like it but they are starting to get it.

That's all I got. Life isn't fair. People are crazy. I live my own life with no regrets and the hell with the rest ;-)
