back to the ORIGINAL TOPIC, this is more of the same, "take no responsibility" mentality that MOST young adults show today. in my youth, we would have alerted the driver that he forgot his keys, not steal his car. I blame his mom for not teaching him right from wrong, I guess she forgot to buy that XBOX game for him for X-Mas last year. he deserves to be charged and tried as an adult.

This is obviously the mother's failure but she's not the only one that owns this failure. Society owns a part, which means you and me. If we took better care of each other, this sort of thing wouldn't happen. Society failed this mother and son. Get involved, folks.

I agree with you Jon. I don't do this anymore, but many times if I noticed that someone left their lights on in a store's parking lot, I would think nothing of walking over to the car and check to see if the door was unlocked to turn the lights off to prevent them from having a dead battery.

I stopped doing it after just turning the lights off and closing the door, the owner of the vehicle came around the corner from a van and asked me what I was doing. After I told her that I was just turning the lights off, she didn't believe me and started to get confrontational. I'm a pretty good sized guy, so when push came to shove, I wasn't worried about her, but thankfully another person in the parking lot got of her car and vouched for act.

Nowdays, you're damned if you do, and damned if you don't. But, we aren't neighbors anymore...I think that has much to do with it. I know this is going to sound strange, but the start of the end of this was FDR after WWII when the "nuclear family" was created. It started closing us off from our neighbors and started to make us more private and undermined community.

So, what I'm taking from this thread is that this boy that stole the car came from an FDR proposed nuclear family, and decided that in lieu of donating to Obama's campaign (with financial backing from the Bush's) decided to steal Obama's car? And apparently he learned his auto theft skills from Jerry?
