Eli makes his case for Canton
Posted by Mike Florio on February 6, 2012, 12:12 AM EST A day after six men received their invitations to the Pro Football Hall of Fame, Eli Manning has laid the foundation to eventually join them. With two Super Bowl wins, two Super Bowl MVP trophies, and a career still in the front end of his prime, Eli won’t simply be elite — he’ll be immortal. He has 27,579 passing yards in eight seasons, putting him 51st on the all-time list. Within two years, he likely will be in the top 20. As to touchdown passes, Eli ranks 42nd with 185. If he averages only 20 a year over the next five years, he’ll have more than Joe Montana, Dan Fouts, and Jim Kelly. And while it would be nice to add a league MVP award to that list of accomplishments, Eli likely doesn’t need it. If he keeps doing what he’s been doing, even without another Super Bowl title, Eli will make it to the Hall of Fame. Given the way Eli plays in big moments, he could have another Super Bowl title in him. Or two.

Eli proved he is among the best in the league this season. when the game is on the line he rises to the occasion. HOF is a long way off, but i see him having a long and effective career, with at least 1 or 2 more super bowl games in his future.

He is a good QB but not elite. He's good at going thru his progression to find the open receiver and when under pressure very elusive. I credit his receiver corps for much of his success. HoF is indeed a long way off but if he has a long career, he has a chance. That's about as nice as I can be to him.

Get the bust ready cause Eli Manning is in Canton baby!!!! He joined Bart Starr, Terry Bradshaw, Joe Montana and Tom Brady in being the only men to win the MVP Award in the Super Bowl twice. Tom and Eli are still playing but the other three are in the HOF so it's a lock baby!!!! How about them Cowboys, oops sorry we know about those losers, at least Romo got to bang Jessica Simpson for a while! The super star Eagles got clipped and even though the Redskins scalped us twice, we won Super Bowl XLVI.

If Super Bowl MVPs make you elite then the Cowboys are the most elite team of all-time with 7 recipients.

He's good at going through his progression and getting the ball to the open reciever. He's also good at escaping pressure. Hmmmmmm. What exactly is it that he can't do? And his WR's are making him? You mean the undrafted WR, 3rd string 3rd round pick and the tight end who usually plays FB? The WR core with 30 drops that was 8th in the league? Oh, or are you talking about the 32nd ranked rushing game? Maybe you should specify, cause I'm not quite sure I'm not even saying he's a Hall of Famer yet, but he's one of the 5 best QB's in the NFL.
