Being a major league baseball player has its perks. Some of those perks include something similar to celebrity-status, which the ballplayer might use to appear on television. Such was the case for Baltimore Orioles pitcher Brad Bergesen. The right-hander was having a ball during the filming of a commercial promoting Baltimore’s 2010 season, until he [...]
On Friday, Aug. 14, part-time outfielder Felix Pie accomplished something that only three Orioles had done previously before: Hit for the cycle.
After rounding second base en route to history, he sped to third and slid in, unaware….
This is the fifth article of my weekly series “What People Are Saying about the Baltimore Orioles.” This week, the topics discussed ranged from an outside view on prospect Josh Bell, the Gregg Zaun deal, the Birds’ 2010 potential saves leader, Jake Arrieta’s struggles, and the second half of the season. Let’s see what people [...]
Chris Tillman, the Orioles’ top pitching prospect, has now been called up from Triple-A Norfolk to begin his big league career.
He will be facing a weak-hitting offense in Kansas City, so picking up the “W” in his big-league debut shouldn’t be a problem, right?

The dream began for shortstop Robert Andino on August 4, 2002, as he signed with the Florida Marlins and kicked off his minor league career.
He was expected to be the future at the middle-infield position, his stellar defense and slap-hitting style carrying him to the pros.
Baltimore may be known today for crab cakes, or perhaps the Orioles and Ravens, to many tourists. The city is much more than that. It was where our National Anthem was born, it is where the first Washington Monument was erected (Baltimore was once known as “monument city” due to its skyline), and was an [...]
Finally, after weeks of waiting, the top prospect in baseball arrives to the majors.
Matthew Wieters, a switch-hitting elite catching prospect, will be making his major league debut on Friday against Dontrelle Willis and the Detroit Tigers.
It will be a grand day for baseball, as a new era of young stars is born. He is the first to make some noise.
It appears as though many young position prospects are attracting some attention…
