Boston Red Sox slugger David Ortiz spoke earlier this week about wanting to start off fresh with a new club in 2012, this according to ESPN and multiple other sources.
Ortiz will turn 36 this November and will undoubtedly have to stay in the American League, given his DH position.
Ortiz knocked in 96 RBI in 2011 and went yard on opposing pitchers 29 times [...]
It appears Terry Francona will pay for Boston’s sins. Reports have been trickling out since Thursday night that the Red Sox and their manager will part ways, and now all that’s left is the official announcement. SI.com’s Jon Heyman is reporting that even after winning a World Series in 2004 and 2007, Francona is out after [...]
What a finish to baseball’s regular season, the greatest show on dirt. That was literally the most exciting night of baseball we have ever witnessed in our entire lives. Sincerely hope you got to see at least one of these games.
The Atlanta Braves and Boston Red Sox polished off their respective collapses while the Tampa Bay Rays made the most [...]
Just when you thought a nice close 1-0 loss would be a decent change of pace from double-digit beatdowns, the Blue Jays made this one hurt. In more ways than one.
First is the issue that is not so much the Blue Jays’ fault. While delivering a 1-2 pitch to Brett Lawrie, who seems to make bad things happen [...]
Late last night the Boston Red Sox acquired Conor Jackson from the Oakland A’s for minor league pitcher Jason Rice. Jackson was hitting .249/.315/.342 with four home runs in 368 plate appearances for the A’s in 2011.
The Red Sox must view Jackson as an upgrade in that fourth OF/play against a lefty spot over Darnell McDonald. What’s interesting about that is McDonald has a higher OPS against lefties than Jackson does [...]
The Boston Red Sox placed Kevin Youkilis on the 15-day disabled list Thursday with a sore back, calling up catcher Ryan Lavarnway from AAA to take his spot on the roster and act as designated hitter against the Kansas City Royals.
Youkilis had already missed a bunch games over the last week due to the injury, and looked like a crippled elderly woman during Wednesday’s game [...]
Whenever the New York Yankees and Boston Red Sox face off against each other, you know it’s going to be a great series that has the potential to be special. Not only due to their historic rivalry, but because of how close the games usually are between the two American League juggernauts.
Unfortunately for the Yankees…
This is now the seventh franchise I have compiled an ‘All-Time’ team for. I began this endeavor in July of 2009 and have worked on many different lists and composite articles since then. At this rate perhaps I will have it done by the end of the decade, if the Lord tarries.
The Braves are a storied franchise to be sure. They began as the Boston[...]
Hello everyone and welcome to today’s “The Stack” with me, Nathan Stacken. We have a few things to get to so let’s get right to it and see what made “The Stack” today:
1. Randy Moss retires.
Oh Randy. It’s just Randy being Randy. Randy Moss retired from the NFL yesterday after thirteen NFL seasons, in which he put up…
Canada’s first love affair with a MLB baseball franchise took place long before the Toronto Blue Jays were born and won two World Series. Back in 1969 the Montreal Expos were the pride and joy of the nation and for many, they remained Canada’s team until packing up and heading down to Washington DC in 2004 where they were renamed the Nationals.
There’s been some talk [...]
