Lauren Pronger, wife of Flyers’ Chris Pronger, opens up about her husband

We’ve heard a lot about concussions over the past year, but it’s not often that you hear from the wives of the players suffering from them. That’s what makes this video, in which Chris Pronger’s wife Lauren opens up about her husband’s slow recovery, so compelling. Heartbreaking, too. While the Philadelphia Flyers no doubt miss [...]

NHL teams playing concussion deception games

NHL teams playing concussion deception games

On Friday afternoon, it was revealed that Chris Pronger was going to be paying a visit to Drs. Joe Maroon and Mickey Collins, what for that concussion-like thing he’s been experiencing.*It was, in a curiously roundabout way, a tacit admission that the Philadelphia Flyers’ defenseman is suffering from, y’know, a concussion.

After missing a handful of games [...]

Hockey Jabber Blog: Under Review: Contracts

This is the first “Under Review:” post (hopefully they get better over time) I’m going to be talking about contracts (I bet you can guess what inspired this post.) Here are a few thoughts I’ve had on them and maybe a few ideas that will spark some debate (or resonate with you.)

Chris Pronger Sends Clear Message To Media: Don't Ask Stupid Questions!

Chris Pronger Sends Clear Message To Media: Don’t Ask Stupid Questions!

After watching a number of post-game interviews and press conferences featuring Philadelphia Flyers defenseman Chris Pronger (courtesy of NHL.com’s and TSN’s websites), one thing is for sure: If a media member tries to be a smart-ass or asks a stupid question, he will get the same attitude back in spades from Pronger—and deservedly so.

While the media and hockey fans both thirst for interviews and press conferences, for the players, spending 20 minutes with the media—especially after a tough loss [...]

With the signing of Saku Koivu today as well as the acquisition of Joffery Lupul in the Pronger trade, the Ducks have 6 legitimate 20 goal scorers in their lineup. *Look at this top 6 (not in their correct positions I know)

Tavares Goes #1, Pronger Traded to Flyers

John Tavares was drafted #1 overall

With the first pick of the 2009 entry draft the New York Islanders selected John Tavares from the London Knights of the Ontario Hockey League. *No real surprise here, just suspense, Islanders GM Garth Snow was very secretive about who he was planning on choosing with the first pick, although he had *previously stated that he knew who he was taking from the moment he knew he had the 1st pick. *Tavares will be the marquee star on the Island next year. *With a few complementary players via free agency, the Islanders could have a decent shot at a playoff seed, even though they play in arguably the toughest division in hockey.
