I was browsing the current state of trades in MLB this morning when I saw what the Colorado Rockies demanded from the Cincinnati Reds for their ace of the staff, Ubaldo Jimenez. According to Ken Rosenthal and Jon Paul Morosi of FOXSports.com, they want Yonder Alonso and a MLB starting pitcher.
Alonso was recently called up from [...]
Buddy Bell, Director of Operations for the Chicago White Sox Minor League System, was gracious enough to grant an interview to the internet media focusing on the White Sox this week. The conference call touched on a multitude of topics, and Bell was his usual candid, quotable self.

Melvin Mora has agreed to a $1.3 million, one-year contract with the Colorado Rockies.
Playing third base for the Baltimore Orioles for the past nine seasons has been pretty great for the guy. It’s been everything he’s ever dreamed of… except that he’s never once played baseball in October with them. In fact, Mora hasn’t enjoyed [...]
Huston Street and the Colorado Rockies finalized their three-year, $22.5 million contract negotiations Wednesday. The deal could be worth up to $31 million over four seasons, including a $9 million option for 2013 with a $500,000 buyout if the club decides they can do better.
“We want to stay together,” he said. “Everybody believes in what we’ve got [...]
10) Todd Helton may have rejuvenated his career with back surgery, but it doesn’t work against left handed pitchers.
9) Philly Fan shouldn’t complain about Charlie Manuel and his hunches ever again, but will.
The Rockies clearly needed more Kyle Orton.
7) Watching poorly timed baseball playoff games that are being covered by undiagnosed depressives is, [...]
The Arizona Diamondbacks are almost an after thought these days. The way they are playing, they should be thankful they are garnering any thoughts, even from yours truly.
Once again, a superior opponent, the NL Wild Card leaders in the Colorado Rockies, came to town and took care of their business, winning today 5-1 after winning [...]
Arizona Diamondbacks third/first baseman Mark Reynolds has been named NL Co-Player of the week along with Colorado Rockies closer Huston Street.
Reynolds had a slugging percentage of 1.000, five doubles, three home runs over the past week.
Too bad we didn’t have seven other Mark Reynolds in the starting lineup. We could also use a guy like Huston Street as the Dbacks bullpen had another rough week along with a couple starters.
Dinger would be the dumbest mascot ever if not for the Phillie Phanatic. No offense, Chutley.
The Colorado Rockies’ franchise record for consecutive victories is 11 and they’re cruising at two wins away right now. They came back from a three-run deficit Friday night to beat the Seattle Mariners 6-5.
Paul Maholm pitched a gem tonight.
Matt Capps blew it.
After Paul went 7 innings and allowing no runs, Jim Tracy..I mean John Russell pulls Maholm. Yates gives up a run in the 8th on a sac fly, but the Bucs protested the call, went to third, where Jack Wilson stepped on the base, the umpire signals the runner is out. Bucs still lead 1-0
Matt Capps comes in and promply gives up a ground rule double…
