Dirk Nowitzki is definitely a different kind of star. While most of the other NBA players are constantly looking at ways to increase their staggering wealth, Nowitzki is simply refusing to take money.
The player is at an all time high in his career, following his victory in the NBA Finals with the Dallas Mavericks. [...]
After 31 years of trying, the Dallas Mavericks are finally able to hoist the Larry O’Brien Trophy. The team that most experts had written off as past their prime and too dysfunctional to be successful took down the highly touted Miami Heat team in one of the most thrilling Finals series in NBA history.
The series started in Miami as the Heat shut down the Mavs with a dominating defense…
When I turned 23 years old last week, I only wanted three things. A nice little get together with the family, go watch The Hangover 2 (I had seen the first in theaters for my 21st birthday) and to have the Mavericks even the series 2-2 with the villains from South Beach. Thanks in large part to LeBron James once again failing to rise to the occasion, my birthday trifecta went off without a hitch and I couldn’t have [...]
MIAMI (AP)—Dirk Nowitzki(notes) and the Dallas Mavericks are NBA champions, and they went through LeBron James(notes) for that long-awaited first title.
Jason Terry(notes) scored 27 points, Nowitzki added 21 and the Mavericks topped the Miami Heat 105-95 in Game 6 of the NBA finals on Sunday night. The Mavericks won four of the series’ last five games, [...]
Their names echo across the sports galaxy, like shining stars. They are instantly recognizable as the best of the best.

Jason Terry – 21 points, 6 assists
J.J. Barea – 17 points, 5 assists
Jason Kidd – 13 points, 6 assists
LeBron James – 17 points, 10 rebounds, 10 assists, 2 POINTS IN THE 4TH QUARTER.
I’m sorry everyone, even though he got a triple-double, I never, never, ever, never…
Incredible. Absolutely incredible. After watching the 3 games in this NBA Finals so far, that is all I can say, incredible. Who knows, incredible might be an understatement on my part. I’m completely stunned. Either team could have taken control of this series tonight. Both teams made idiot moves & wonderful runs throughout the 48 minutes in regulation. The two star players performed magnificently; Dirk Nowitzki had 34 points, 11 rebounds…
The Miami Heat faced off against the Dallas Mavericks last night in South Beach for Game 1 of the Championship Series.
Defense was the key for both teams in Game 1. The Mavericks went with a zone defense & performed it with precision to start off the game. Miami’s man to man defense caused Dallas to miss 5 straight field goals early in the 1st quarter. Both teams shot poorly…
The Dallas Mavericks overcame yet another fourth quarter deficit to pick up a victory in game five over the Oklahoma City Thunder and advance to the NBA Finals. It is only the second time in team history that the team has advanced to the finals.
2006 was the last time that Dallas was present in the NBA Finals and only two players remain from that team — Dirk Nowitzki and Jason Terry…
Several times in these playoffs, we’ve been pretty amazed to have been reminded that the only championship ring on the Dallas Mavericks roster belongs to head coach Rick Carlisle, who won one as a reserve with the Boston Celtics in 1986. We’re all aware of guys like Dirk Nowitzki and Jason Kidd falling short in the Finals, but to have nobody on that bench even sneak his way into a championship parade? Kind of crazy…
