Rajon Rondo And The Luck Of Danny Ainge's Celtics

Rajon Rondo And The Luck Of Danny Ainge’s Celtics

With Rajon Rondo, the Boston Celtics are playing with house money. Teams don’t usually get players like Rondo with the No. 21 pick in a shallow draft. When Boston excised the young core to pull in Ray Allen and Kevin Garnett, Rondo, then coming off of a rookie season where he averaged six points and as many rebounds as assists, was one of two (with Kendrick Perkins) who stayed. Paul Pierce Still Needs a Quality Backup

Paul Pierce Still Needs a Quality Backup

While the addition of Rasheed Wallace is both accepted and now anticipated by all of us, the Celtics still face some glaring holes on their roster card, with no gap proving to be potentially more lethal than the small forward position.

A backup point guard still needs to find his way here, as does another inside-loving big man to better compliment Wallace and the rest of the pine people next season.

Rumors, rumors, and more rumors.

Last week we heard the crazy rumor out of Phoenix that the Celtics were considering shipping Rajon Rondo and Ray Allen to acquire Amare Stoudamare, Leanardo Barbosa, and a lottery pick.

Most of us considered it to pure speculation. Rondo isn’t going anywhere unless Danny Ainge is absolutely overwhelmed with a offer he can’t refuse.

Not only that, but wouldn’t it make sense to hold onto a guy like Allen to give the big three another run at a championship? Apparently Ray Ray isn’t as safe as we may of thought.
