If the New Jersey Nets had landed Carmelo Anthony, they would have given up a whole lot of potential in 6ft 10in NBA rookie Derrick Favors. And the number three draft pick showed some of that potential in his first NBA game.
The 19-year-old out of Georgia Tech scored 14 points and grabbed nine rebounds in a 108-70 rout of Maccabi Haifa
Yahoo is reporting that the Nets are backing off pursuit of a deal for Carmelo Anthony, league source says. “At least for now,” according to Adrian Wojnarowski
With the Nets officially holding back from making a deal, its becoming more evident that Anthony will remain with the Nuggets for the start of the 2010 season.
Once the season begins the Nuggets could become more inclined[...]
We have all heard the talk for the past few seasons: Kobe and LeBron will face each other in the Finals someday. I know that seems like a dream matchup. I hope it’s going to happen. It almost happened last season, but the Cavaliers weren’t good enough for the underrated Orlando Magic. Now it comes [...]
The Denver Nuggets went on the road tonight to take on the Chicago Bulls in a match up of two teams really showing promise early in the season. Carmelo Anthony is on a scoring tear early on and the Nuggets have won some games convincingly. The Bulls on the other hand have really shown their [...]
“YES!!!”
That was my reaction when I turned on my computer, went to MSN.com, and checked the sports section.
Chris Andersen, the forward/center reserve for the Denver Nuggets, was resigned to a five year deal that could earn him up to $26 million. He is set to earn $3.65 million this year which is a definite improvement from his $998,398 salary from last year.
Kobe Bryant put his best on Carmelo Anthony, especially in the fourth quarter, pulling off a come-from-behind victory. That’s how you get it done! Bryant was literally popping bottles, as the song says
And then there were four!
This four comprises two “expecteds” and two quasi-surprises. The Lakers and Cavaliers of course are the expecteds. The Nuggets and Magic are the quasi-surprises. Although, given the parity in the West, excluding the Lakers, no team would have been a true surprise.
#1 Lakers v #2 Nuggets
There will be FIRE in the West! This is a definite change from virtually all pre-playoff predictions. This new prediction is precipitated by the combination of the Lakers’ inconsistent post-season play and the Nuggets playing the 2nd-best brand of basketball in the playoffs.
Who woulda thunk? Okay, go ahead and try to pull my chain. Proceed with great vigor and articulation to tell me that, any time prior to April, you foretold this. Convince me if you dare try that you predicted…nee…even thought that as the Western Conference Finals draw nigh, it would be the Denver Nuggets sitting around with their feet up, awaiting an opponent.
According to an AP report, Mavs owner Mark Cuban issued an apology to Nuggets forward Kenyon Martin’s mother for a degrading statement.
In Cuban’s words, after the Mavs game 3 loss to the Nuggets, an agry fan stated the Nuggets were ‘thugs’ and while strolling past Lydia Moore, Martin’s mother, Cuban added, “that includes your son.”
Martin’s version indicated that Cuban called him a ‘punk’ but thats a whole different can of worms.
