Detroit Lions Preview

Detroit Lions Preview

I wrote an early Lions Preview a little while back and now after the preseason, I feel some of the questions I was wondering have been answered. This Detroit Lions team appears to be a team that will be able to compete for wins on Sunday. I do not think they are a playoff team yet, but I feel they are on the verge of becoming one. A few quality players at certain positions and the Lions will be able to compete for the division.

Broncos Notes: Final cuts start early, good news on injury front.

Though the deadline for the first roster cuts is not until August 31st, the Broncos started trimming their roster a week early on Monday when the team announced they waived running back Toney Baker, offensive lineman Kirk Barton and wide receiver Patrick Carter. Baker joined the team as a college free agent after the draft [...]

SJ Pro Football Hall of Fame Enshrinee Report: Dick LeBeau

Dick LeBeau may now be a renowned defensive coordinator, and a two time Super Bowl winner in that capacity, he may be known for coaching a defensive player of the year, or for innovating the zone blitz out of the 3-4 defensive front, maybe you know him as the soft spoken, yet angry looking older gentleman constantly pacing the sidelines of the black and gold.

But, not many people…

In the Eagles fifth offseason trade, they acquired linebacker Ernie Sims from the Detroit Lions in a three-team trade that also included sending a fifth-round pick to the Denver Broncos. The Broncos, in turn, sent tight end Tony Scheffler and a seventh-round pick to the Lions. “I’m just real excited, looking for a new beginning [...]

Adam Jones is more commonly known as “Pacman” and has been recognised as such for much of his life, dubbed early on by his mother who noticed his propensity for gobbling up his milk as a toddler. This was a name that would aptly transfer to his football career where, as a high school, collegiate, [...]

Patriots get to maul Lions on Thanksgiving this year

Patriots get to maul Lions on Thanksgiving this year

I don’t want to completely write off the Lions 2010 season already, but let’s not kid ourselves: You don’t bounce back from seven years of Matt Millen overnight. I hope I’m wrong, but there’s a good chance the Lions will be a sub-.500 team again in 2010, and thus, there’s also a good chance that their streak of savage beatings on Thanksgiving Day will continue.

Matt Stafford Sets Record In Lions Last Second Win

Matt Stafford Sets Record In Lions Last Second Win

Matthew Stafford, of the Detroit Lions, has had a rookie season that can best be described as trying. Both he and his team have struggled all season, which was expected by all observers. There was a time this season some thought Stafford would be shut down for the season as he struggled with a knee [...]

Do the Lions really want to end their 17-game losing streak?

Do the Lions really want to end their 17-game losing streak?

The Detroit Lions haven’t won a game in 21-months, 17 consecutive losses. One would think a struggling franchise, that managed to amass an unprecedented 0-16 in the 2008 season, would be ready to get back on the winning side of the track. In unsurprising fashion, Lions head coach Jim Schwartz named rookie QB Matt Stafford [...]
