Everyone knew Aaron Rodgers and the offense would have a big game, but it was the Green Bay Packers’ defense and special teams who stole the show this Monday Night.
Coming into the game, the undefeated Packers (9-0) were allowing 22.4 points per game, but Adrian Peterson and the Minnesota Vikings (2-7) came nowhere close to that in a 45-7 loss at Lambeau Field. [...]
Lost amidst the tough loss Thursday night was news that Marques Colston reportedly suffered a shoulder injury in the loss. Head coach Sean Payton did not reveal the extent of it but news reports are now indicating it could be moderately serious. According to a tweet from Jay Glazer, Colston suffered a broken collarbone and will miss approximately four weeks. We’re still waiting on further [...]
It’s hard to knock the reigning Super Bowl champions, but no matter how good a team is it can always improve. This includes the Green Bay Packers. But while running back is a position they could get better at, it shouldn’t really be considered a major concern. The club did address the situation somewhat in [...]
OAKLAND – I am Al Davis, the great and powerful! Bow before me foolish mortals! Some day somebody is going to write a book about this period in Oakland’s history, Managing Al. That’s what the Oakland organization is all about now. Minimizing the damage of their Jon Gruden firing, Darius Heyward Bey drafting owner wrecks on the football team he claims to love. He loves it as long as it looks[...]
Aaron Rodgers accomplished something last night that Brett Favre never has and never will. Rodgers was named the Super Bowl MVP of Super Bowl XLV. In the Super Bowl Favre won (Super Bowl XXXI), Desmond Howard was named the MVP.
While Rodgers were nearly perfect in his first Super Bowl appearance, it was the Packers’ defense that anchored the team to victory…
Let me just make one thing clear: everybody who already regularly reads TSTOS, they know this, but for the new readers, please remember that “journalistic objectivity” is bullshit, and I don’t sit in the middle of the fence over two teams. I don’t like the Pittsburgh Steelers. I’m tired of watching them in the Super Bowl every other year, and sick of hearing about how soft Troy Polamalu’s hair is. I don’t care about Brett Kiesel’s goldy locks beard…
While the lazy journalist takes the easy way out by huddling in front of the lockers of Ben Roethlisberger and Aaron Rogers, defense is the real story of Super Bowl XLV. This may be the best defensive match up a Super Bowl has seen since the Steelers took on the Dallas Cowboys in 1978.
While Pittsburgh had the top defense…
Just something I found highly amusing:
Packers defensive end Ryan Pickett had hoped to attend National Porn Sunday, a Feb. 6 religious service whose anti-pornography message will be broadcast to 300 churches across the country on Super Bowl Sunday.
But, it turns out, he has a conflict…
The video includes personal stories of other current and former NFL players, [...]
A lot has happened since Brett Favre played his final game for the Green Bay Packers. The Packers have moved on to their first Super Bowl appearance since Favre was under center. And Favre, not to be undone, has moved on to racking up as many sexual harassment complaints that he can. And finally, after all that, it looks like all the hard feelings between Brett Favre and the Green Bay[...]
1. Will Green Bay be able to run the ball against the stingy Pittsburgh run defense? 2. Can the Steelers hold Aaron Rodgers to under 350 passing yards? 3. Can the Packers contain Rashard Mendenhall? 4. Will Ben Roethlisberger get his third championship ring? 5. Can Pittsburgh keep it a low scoring game? 6. Who will [...]
