Welcome to this season’s third edition of There’s Always Next Year, starring the Arizona Diamondbacks!
Nyjer Morgan is T-Clutch, which he prefers to be called when he is kicking ass, taking names, and driving in walkoff runs to advance his team to the National League Championship Series. The Brewers advanced Friday night and sent the Diamondbacks packing for the offseason in the 10th [...]
Many weaknesses, many strengths came into play in the Milwaukee Brewers 3-2 10th inning victory over the Arizona Diamondbacks on Friday, a victory that sends the Brewers to the National League Championship Series against the St. Louis Cardinals. Before I go any further though, congrats to the Milwaukee Brewers. It ended up being a good series which included a great game five.
The Dbacks had a little of everything [...]
Hello everyone and welcome to today’s “The Stack” with me, Nathan Stacken. Today is not as stacked as our posts normally are. We will once again have our NFL week five picks tomorrow, but now let’s see what made today’s “Stack”:
1. Cardinals win, force game 5 in Philly.
The St. Louis Cardinals got into the playoffs on the last day of the season and they are not about to leave. David Freese had as good a game as you could have with elimination on the line. He doubled in the fourth [...]
In Game 5 of the 1984 World Series, Kirk Gibson came up to the plate with runners on second and third and one out in the bottom of the eighth with the Detroit Tigers up 5-4. San Diego Padres’ manager Dick Williams to have a strategy session with Rich “Goose” Gossage.
Williams wanted to walk Gibson, [...]
Well that series was definitely torture — if your idea of “torture” is four incredible baseball games.
The San Francisco Giants are one (really difficult) series closer to fans being able to scream THE GIANTS WIN THE PENNANT! THE GIANTS WIN THE PENNANT! But first they must face the hardcore Philadelphia Phillies. While they wait, they’ll [...]
giants
I know the New York Yankees – Minnesota Twins series was a dud, but other than that series, this postseason so far has been fantastic. And the San Francisco Giants – Atlanta Braves series has been really fantastic.
In Game 1, . [...]
Roy Halladay pitched the second no-hitter in MLB postseason history today, as the Philadelphia Phillies beat the Cincinnati Reds 4-0 in Game 1 of the National League Division Series.
The only other pitcher to ever throw a no-hitter was former New York Yankees Don Larsen, who threw a perfect game in the 1956 World Series against [...]
Third time’s a charm.
The San Diego Padres clawed and scraped their way to the final game of the regular season, but were shut out 3-0 by the National League West-winning San Francisco Giants, who successfully avoided a Game 163 playoff.
Jonathan Sanchez pitched his team back [...]
It’s been a great season, but it’s not over yet! Chicago was not blessed with postseason baseball in 2010, so I’ve decided to spend the last weekend of the regular season at US Cellular Field for all 3 White Sox vs Indians games. If you are at any of the games, stop by and say hi!
As always, there is much more to come! I went on a postseason binge this weekend and bought a few flights [...]
10) Todd Helton may have rejuvenated his career with back surgery, but it doesn’t work against left handed pitchers.
9) Philly Fan shouldn’t complain about Charlie Manuel and his hunches ever again, but will.
The Rockies clearly needed more Kyle Orton.
7) Watching poorly timed baseball playoff games that are being covered by undiagnosed depressives is, [...]
