It’s a four way battle to start at quarterback in Notre Dame, perhaps the most high profile position in all of college sports. But after upon further inspection, it’s most likely a two way competition this college football season.
Last year’s starter Tommy Rees [...]
Off-the-field incidents continue to plague the Brian Kelly regime at Notre Dame. Last night brings another- this one involving the sort of starting QB Tommy Rees and a starting linebacker in Carlo Carlabrese. Rees was jailed on a preliminary felony charge of battery on a police officer and misdemeanor charges of resisting arrest, minor consumption [...]
After being perfect all year long, Baylor finally finished it off tonight by beating Notre Dame in the championship game. I’m not going to pretend that I watched it. I couldn’t name anybody on Baylor not named Brittney Griner. Hell, I couldn’t name anybody in womens college basketball named Brittney Griner. If I didn’t watch [...]
Gunner Kiel, the Columbus, Indiana native rated as the #1 quarterback and #18 overall recruit in the class of 2012 has finally found his place in college football. He originally committed to the Indiana Hoosiers and new coach Kevin Wilson (where his older brother Dusty Kiel is currently part of the QB rotation). Then he changed his mind and de-committed, later giving an oral commitment to LSU on December 27th. [...]
Early in the second half, there was a time Florida State had more return yardage that yards produced by its offense. The Notre Dame defense had held the Seminoles scoreless through the first half in 30 minutes of football that were better suited for napping than viewership. But in the second half, both teams came [...]
On Thursday, December 29th, at 5:31 pm EST, the Notre Dame Fighting Irish will take on the Seminoles of Florida State in the … Champs Sports Bowl? Yep, the Champs Sports Bowl. My, how the mighty have fallen. These two teams once played in the “Game of the Century” in 1993 as ND outlasted Charlie [...]
Two years ago Toby Gerhart, now with the Minnesota Vikings then with the Stanford Cardinal, ran for over 200 yards on Notre Dame. The performance moved him up the Heisman Trophy pecking order, and he lost (by the slimmest margin of all time) to current member of the New Orleans Saints then member of the Alabama Crimson Tide Mark Ingram. Tonight Andrew Luck, the mortal [...]
Vision is often clouded by what lies beneath the golden dome. It’s the echoing hooves of horsemen long past, combined with fading sounds of championship celebration. It’s Notre Dame football, where name alone will spring distorted perception, just as long-traveled myths will often distort the facts.
USC went into Saturday’s game as a 9.5 point underdog, perceived as the same [...]
Its hard to judge the first game under the Brady Hoke Era of Michigan football. It was a little like the weather at times sunny and at times nasty looking. One thing that stood out was the coaching staff making adjustments to slow down and stop the WMU offense. Overall I would give the team a B on today’s performance.
The offense at times[...]
If storyline #1 surrounding Notre Dame football this preseason is who will be the #1 quarterback?, as senior Dayne Crist battles sophomore Tommy Rees for the coveted QB1 gig, then storyline #2 is Michael Floyd and his reinstatement back into the program.
Floyd led the team last season with 79 receptions for 1,025 yards and 12 touchdowns but was suspended after his third [...]
