The Oakland Athletics opening day starter this MLB season is likely to be former Chicago White Sox hurler Brandon McCarthy. Who happens to be a pretty funny tweeter. Not just “funny for an athlete” or “humorous by celebrity standards,” but an actually funny guy. You can tell because even his public @replies and RTs are …

Neimann Allows Two Hits Too Many

beard

By the time word got around that Jeff Niemann was throwing a no-hitter through six innings, he had already allowed a sharp liner to Toronto Blue Jays shortstop Mike McCoy for the first hit of the evening.

Ben Sheets Saves the Athletics!

sheets

Alright, I may have gotten a little excited with the title. The Oakland Athletics have signed free agent pitcher Ben Sheets to a $10 million, one-year contract. At 31 years old, Sheets has spent a considerable amount of time on the disabled list. In fact, he didn’t even pitch in the majors last season since he was …

These are the new Arizona Diamondbacks.
Now eight games into this road trip, the Dbacks are now 6-2 and easily could be 8-0. Tonight in Oakland they won again by fighting back after being down. Down 5-1 in the eighth inning the Dbacks came up with four big runs to tie the game and eventually come away with a big 8-7 win in 11 innings over the Oakland A’s.
