Ohio State Gets Failure To Monitor Charge

Ohio State Gets Failure To Monitor Charge

The NCAA has notified Ohio State that it will face a “failure to monitor charge” in addition to more allegations related to its football program. On Thursday Ohio State announced it will dock itself five total football scholarships over the next three years in response to the new alleged violations.

The Buckeyes are currently awaiting a ruling after going before the NCAA’s committee on infractions back in August for the tattoo-for-memorabilia scandal [...]

#15 Wisconsin Looks to Bounce Back Against Ohio State (Game Preview)

The #15 Wisconsin Badgers national title hopes may be dead, but their Big Ten title hopes are well and alive. Their route to the inaugural Big Ten Championship and a BCS bowl hits another potential barricade this weekend when they take on the Ohio State Buckeyes.

At 4-3 and 1-2 in the conference, this Ohio State team is not your typical Buckeye team. In fact, this will be the first time since 1963 that the Badgers enter the game [...]

Ohio State to Honor Eddie George, Make Stadium Scarlet

The Ohio State Buckeyes are off this week, but they are planning a “Scarlet Out” for their next game, Oct. 29, when the Buckeyes host the #4 Wisconsin Badgers in an 8 p.m. ET kickoff.

They’ll also honor Heisman Trophy winner Eddie George at halftime.

Ohio St. Buckeyes Give Illini 1st Loss of Season in Boring Game

Ohio St. Buckeyes Give Illini 1st Loss of Season in Boring Game

It was ugly, and anything but exciting. Still, Ohio State gave the Illini their first loss of the 2011 season. Buckyes QB Braxton Miller didn’t even complete a pass until 13:06 left in the fourth quarter, when he found TE Jake Stoneburner in the middle of the south end zone to put OSU up 16-0.

Prior to that play, Miller was just 0-3 passing on the day. The Buckeyes were BORING and one-dimensional, but it was enough [...]

The good, the bad, and the ugly: Ohio State's first half of the season

The good, the bad, and the ugly: Ohio State’s first half of the season

The Good:

Believe it or not, there are good things coming out of this season for Ohio State. The problem is, most of the good is looking towards the future; and most of it concerns Braxton Miller. Though he struggled early, the highly touted freshman is beginning to come into his own. His arm is obviously not developed yet, but the athleticism is there in full. At Nebraska, Miller was 5-8 for 95 yards and a touchdown while running nine times for 91 yards. [...]

Bo Pelini’s Audition For The Ohio State Job Went Okay

Bo Pelini’s Audition For The Ohio State Job Went Okay

Nebraska didn’t have to make their 34-27 win over Ohio State as dramatic as it was, but then it probably wouldn’t have been as cathartic a victory. At some point, the Huskers figured out they were supposed to be beating the Buckeyes, and then took over.

Or maybe it was when Ohio State quarterback Braxton Miller got hurt and didn’t return, because from when Joe Bauserman came in to the end of the game [...]

How Badly Does Ohio State Need and Want Urban Meyer?

How Badly Does Ohio State Need and Want Urban Meyer?

Despite his current enviable cushy ESPN job, former Florida Gators Head Coach Urban Meyer will return to coaching college football. And probably next year, with either the Penn State Nittany Lions, or more likely the Ohio State Buckeyes.

It’s the worst kept secret in the game- the Buckeyes football brass wants Meyer. [...]

Suspended Ohio State Players Not Yet Reinstated, Will Not Play Against Toledo

Suspended Ohio State Players Not Yet Reinstated, Will Not Play Against Toledo

The three Ohio State Buckeye football players suspended for the season opener against Akron have not yet been reinstated by the NCAA, the school announced Friday in a statement.

This was unexpected, as the announcement comes just days after head coach Luke Fickell indicated that junior running back Jordan Hall, junior defensive back [...]

Jim Tressel Hired By Colts, Will Be Suspended Any Minute Now

Jim Tressel Hired By Colts, Will Be Suspended Any Minute Now

Soiled Ohio St. Buckeyes coach Jim Tressel didn’t get far since leaving Columbus, emerging elsewhere in Big Ten country as the Indianapolis Colts’ newest game-day consultant. His primary task will be telling Jim Caldwell when to throw a challenge flag. Stop laughing. Alerting Jim Caldwell to on-field action is harder than it looks, and requires an executive’s talents.

Tressel, you’ll recall[...]

2011 Season Preview: The Ohio State Buckeyes And The Unprojectables

2011 Season Preview: The Ohio State Buckeyes And The Unprojectables

Projections are based on precedent. We have collected enough data at this point that we know how teams generally perform when they return X number of starters on offense, when they recruit at a top five level, et cetera. Plug each team’s numbers into the magic Excel sheet, and poof … projections. Sometimes they’re even good projections.[...]
