Join Mark and Ben this week as they review the conference championships of the NFL playoffs and take their first look at the Winter Olympics and NCAA Basketball; after all we’re coming up on March Madness. Also, Mark will do his usual sports world whiparound to cover the other major stories and Ben will keep [...]
Zach Randolph: Randolph plays for the Memphis Grizzlies so you probably won’t get to see him on nationally televised games unless you have the NBA League Pass package with your cable or satellite company. Nevertheless, this 6-foot-9 forward has been putting up mind-numbing numbers. Last week he was a beast in the fantasy world. I’m [...]
For the past decade the balance of power in the NBA has been firmly rooted in the Western Conference. Western teams have captured six championships and have had more teams with winning records than the East. If not for the Boston Celtics, Miami Heat, and Detroit Pistons, the Eastern Conference would have been shut out [...]
We’re nearly a fifth of the way through the season and have a pretty good idea of who the best teams in the league (although not that good of an idea, as no team really wants to hold of the season). We also have a fairly good idea who the truly pathetic teams in the [...]
Tonight marks the start of another journey in the world of NBA basketball. Opening night featured the Cleveland Cavaliers playing host to the Boston Celtics. The Celtics are regarded by many to return and win the NBA Finals this season. Against LeBron James and the Cavs, they proved they are indeed on a mission with a 95-89 victory on the road. It wasn’t exactly David Ortiz getting ensnared in the performance-enhancing drug dragnet but the NBA finally got bitten by the steroid bug Thursday when Orlando All-Star forward Rashard Lewis was suspended for the first 10 games of next season after violating the league’s Anti-Drug Program. Lewis, who tested positive for an elevated testosterone level, went [...]
Throughout the offseason, I have seen Bleacher Creatures continuously bash the Orlando Magic for their signings, trades, and overall decisions made thus far.
It has gotten to the point where I am literally lost for words.
The Orlando Magic’s offseason has been stellar. They’ve added Vince Carter, lured Brandon Bass from Dallas, and even screwed the Mavericks over by matching their offer sheet to retain Marcin Gortat. This is enough for some to crown the Magic paper champs for the upcoming season.
Kobe Bryant has the NBA title he needed most – the one without Shaq.
Bryant’s seven-year chase of a coveted championship is over. He’s got his fourth, and Los Angeles coach Phil Jackson his record 10th, a ring for each finger. One year after failing in the finals, Bryant and the Lakers have redemption, and all the rewards that go with it.
I know that it may seem that we really don’t care for SVG as a coach. And there may be a lot of truth to that statement. But I, for one, have realized that he has the potential to be one of the best coaches in the league. Think about it. The guy won in Miami and now he has taken a rather green Orlando Magic squad to the NBA Finals.
