Slam Magazine has released their new list of the top 50 Greatest NBA players of all time. The first list was made in 1997 and revised for the first time in 2003 and extended to 75 players. In 2009 it’s back to 50 and while it’s not a bad list, I have a few issue with this list.
3. Bill Russell and 4. Shaquille O’Neal…They may have championships and MVP awards but neither one of these guys deserves to be ranked this high. Kareem was better and more skilled than both of them. Shaq isn’t even the 2nd or 3rd best center of all time, so how can he be the 4th best player?

Even though Shaq hasn’t find a house in Cleveland yet, he has making himself at home with a new jersey number.
Shaquille O’Neal decided to wear number 33 in honor of his high school and college days at LSU before he went pro. O’Neal wore number 32 when he was with the Orlando Miami, and Phoenix.
When he was with the Lakers, O’Neal wore number 34 because Nos. 32 and 33 were retired in honor of Earvin “Magic” Johnson and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar.
In Cleveland, O’Neal will be teammates with LeBron James, the latest in a long line of superstar partners to pair with the entertaining enter.
Earlier this season, Tyson Chandler was dealt to the Oklahoma City Thunder for Chris Wilcox, Joe Smith, and DeVon Hardin—only for the trade to be rescinded because Chandler failed to pass a physical.
The biggest reason Chandler was being traded was because of his health, and because the Hornet wanted to shred salary cap. Chandler is owed $25.5 million for the next two years, and the money does not pay for what he is producing—a measly 8.8 PPG and 8.5 RPG in 77 games…
