Hello everyone and welcome to today’s “The Stack” with me, Nathan Stacken. It’s a shorter stack of stories today, we’ll have our NHL preview tomorrow. So let’s take a look at the stories that made today’s “stack”:
1. Rangers one win away from World Series.
Tell me if you have heard this one before. A Rangers-Tigers playoff game delayed by rain. A Rangers-Tigers game that goes into extras tied 3-3. A four-run inning in which Nelson Cruz is the big hero. Yep, sounds like de ja vu [...]
What a finish to baseball’s regular season, the greatest show on dirt. That was literally the most exciting night of baseball we have ever witnessed in our entire lives. Sincerely hope you got to see at least one of these games.
The Atlanta Braves and Boston Red Sox polished off their respective collapses while the Tampa Bay Rays made the most [...]
Everything’s falling into place.
Oh, not for the Atlanta Braves. Sunday afternoon in our nation’s capital, the Braves were whitewashed by Washington’s Ross Detwiler and a trio of relievers. For the rest of us, though, events have conspired to give us a great deal to watch in the National League, which certainly isn’t what we expected just a week or two ago. . Because with the Braves losing [...]
Since our playoff update was a popular post on Wednesday, we are going to make this a regular thing up until the last day of the season. Let’s recap the meaningful National League action from yesterday.

Atlanta Braves: DNP [...]
The St. Louis Cardinals could have done it. The Atlanta Braves were a game and a half up in the Wild Card race, idle, and the Cardinals had a cushy four-run lead over the punchless Mets. They could have pulled to within a game, made it easier on themselves, and allowed Albert Pujols one more shot at glory with the Redbirds before his free agency.
Now the Cardinals are two games[...]
There are a whole new set of rumors swirling around Albert Pujols this week after the so-called “inappropriate” hug between two longtime rivals: the St. Louis Cardinals first baseman and Chicago Cubs general manager Jim Hendry.
Of course, we don’t quite believe him, considering he should be on the hunt for a new cornerman since Carlos Pena signed…
All off-season, with apologies to Cliff Lee, the biggest story in baseball was the contract negotiations between Albert Pujols and the St. Louis Cardinals. Baseball fans all across the country made up their minds rather quickly on whether or not they thought Pujols or any other athlete was really worth such a large amount of money. But with all of the talk about the numbers, one of the things rarely talked about…
Albert Pujols has said time and again that he wants to retire as a St. Louis Cardinal. However, both sides have been mum in providing an update on negotiations for any new long-term deal. Bill DeWitt Jr., the team’s CEO, has hinted that talks are “not that far along,” which is not that good of news.
In an attempt to move things along,[...]
Since the dreadful series against the St. Louis Cardinals, the Reds have reeled off six-straight wins, sweeping both the Florida Marlins and now the Arizona Diamondbacks.
In doing this, they have become the hottest team in the major leagues.
They are currently 19 games over .500 and have their biggest lead of the season in the National [...]
Adam Wainwright pitched six solid innings against the Los Angeles Dodgers Saturday for a 2-0 St. Louis Cardinals victory to improve to an incredible 10-0 with a 1.31 ERA at home.
The All -Star right-hander, who is 14-5 on the year with a 2.02 ERA, has allowed just one earned run over his last 29.1 innings pitched.
