On Monday, during his federal perjury trial, Barry Bonds was forced to endure his ex-mistress’ testimony concerning the effects steroids had on their sex life. Bonds’ former mistress, Kimberly Bell, said that Bonds sexual performance declined in the latter parts of their relationship. Of course, a statement no man wants to hear.
Adding insult to injury, [...]
Dearest BLB readers,
I just had to take a moment to ask your thoughts on Roger Clemens being indicted. Do you think he’s delusional enough to believe that he never used anything? Do you think he’ll go to prison? Do you think he deserves to go to prison if he’s found guilty? What about that creepy Brian McNamee keeping all those DNA covered syringes? Do you think McNamee had planned to screw Clemens all along? Do you think Barry Bonds is next on the list to be indicted?
First, let me say I don’t hate MLB, in fact when I was a young man (I’m 44 now), I loved the major league game. I ate, drank and slept baseball. And right up until 1994 I loved baseball.
Some of my fondest memories of my late grandfather (God rest his soul) are of us watching Ranger and Yankee games together. We rooted for the Rangers and always rooted against the Yankees. My second favorite team was the one that beat the Yankees.
We’ve been oh so tired, recovering from all the interviews we did at the Twins and Pins Charity Bowling Classic last week, so forgive us for ignoring you, our dear readers. In the past week, we’ve let the trade deadline come and go, injuries have happened, and the sports news world was all abuzz because Alex Rodriguez was sitting at 599 homeruns for what seemed like an eternity…
Can you imagine the sort of shady crap you’d have to be involved with for the FEDERAL BUREAU of INVESTIGATION to show up at your doorstep? Yeah, that kind of thing only happens on television… unless you’re Jose Canseco.
I happened to be scanning my Tweetdeck this afternoon when @JoseCanseco (yes, I totally follow him and [...]
Eleven days ago former Oakland Athletics/St. Louis Cardinals slugger Mark McGwire admitted to taking performance enhancing drugs. Much discussion came of the subject, both from the media and fans alike. One subject that ensued was how his admission would affect his chances of entering the Hall of Fame. Most people recognized that it was a [...]
While watching the Green Bay Packers victory over the San Francisco 49ers, my girlfriend asked me an interesting question: Has any other player in professional sports done what Brett Favre is doing? That is, play more than a decade and become a legend, only to defect to the enemy like Anakin Skywalker. At the time, [...]
Following my Keith Hernandez post from yesterday evening, a few people pointed out my apparent hypocrisy. How, they asked, can someone rant against “cheaters” like Barry Bonds and Sammy Sosa, yet support the Hall of Fame candidacy of a cocaine user like Keith Hernandez?
Boy, do I loathe this argument.
Look, steroids and HGH make you a [...]
It wasn’t exactly David Ortiz getting ensnared in the performance-enhancing drug dragnet but the NBA finally got bitten by the steroid bug Thursday when Orlando All-Star forward Rashard Lewis was suspended for the first 10 games of next season after violating the league’s Anti-Drug Program.
Lewis, who tested positive for an elevated testosterone level, went to [...]
While the baseball world looks disdainfully at Manny Ramirez, life goes on as usual for self-proclaimed cheater, liar, and breaker-of-rules Alex Rodriguez. It seems like a perversion of justice, not to mention integrity of the game itself, that Rodriguez gets a bye.
